First impressions of the LG K10 – 5.3-inch display and a 13MP camera encased in a beautiful design

LG are definitely off to a great start this year, and even though it’s been just two months, the South Korean company has already introduced a couple of smartphone lines, as well as a new flagship – the G5. We finally have one of the new models at our disposal. It’s the LG K10, and it represents the K series. We are moments away from testing the smartphone, after which we will provide you with a detailed review. But first, here are our initial thoughts on the device.

The first thing that catches one’s eye is K10’s design. Even though it’s 8.8mm thick, the device feels significantly thinner and the reason for that are its beveled edges. Additionally, the back surface is rough and has a pleasant feel. We notice a stitch-pattern texture that will never collect any fingerprints. Also, it provides you with a better grip and reduces the possibility of you dropping the device.

Again we have the volume buttons and the Power button between them, positioned under the main camera. They all have different surface finishes, which makes it easier for you to tell what the button’s function is without having to look at it. The device’s front once more looks impressive and stylish, and it also features a 2.5D screen. The main feature of the device is definitely its curved screen which makes it more attractive. Corning’s Gorilla Glass 3 will also protect it from dust and scratches.

Speaking of the display, it is unusually large, measuring at 5.3″, which will offer you more workspace compared to other 5″ devices, and it is easier to use with one hand as opposed to, say, 5.5″ devices. The screen features an IPS matrix and has a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. However, there are limitations. Direct sunlight and reflections are present when using the device outdoors, so you might want to increase the brightness level.

The device’s processor is a Snapdragon 410, which means you don’t have to worry about lagging or overheating after intensive use.  But of course, this still needs to be tested. You have 16BG of internal memory at your disposal, 10.9GB of which are accessible at initial boot-up. While that might not seem ideal, you still have the microSD slot for extra storage.

K10 runs Android 5.1 Lollipop, and with that comes LG’s user interface, which has always satisfied us. Other than satisfaction, it also brings new visual changes, as well as more functionality. Finally, we have to make note of the 13mp camera – even though it doesn’t offer a rich options menu, it will definitely surprise you with the quality photos it takes, which, after all, is what matters. All that being said, you have options like taking photos through gestures or a voice command.
