Inside Lenovo Yoga 730 (15″) – disassembly and upgrade options
As we said in our review, Lenovo Yoga 730 (15″) is definitely a gem for artists. Not only you have an unprecedented performance for a ULV chip, but also there is a Lenovo Pen inside the box. However, there were some limitations in the system, which prevented the GTX 1050 from performing on a decent level. Let’s check together whether it was the cooling’s fault or it was a shortage of power

1. Remove the bottom plate
Holding the bottom plate in place, there is a total of 10 screws. Lenovo opted for Torx-headed ones. As with many other notebooks, the most stable place to start prying the bottom plate would be the area around the hinge.
2. Battery
Yoga 730 (15″) is equipped with a 51.5Wh battery pack. It may not seem like a huge battery, but we found it to be enough for roughly 7 to 8 hours, depending on the load. However, this is the case if you have the laptop with the dedicated GeForce GTX 1050 on board. Otherwise, the battery is a smaller – 42Wh unit. In order to take the battery out, you have to unscrew 4 Phillips-head screws, with their places designated either by a print on the battery label or market out on the plastic support surface. Don’t forget to disconnect the cable, located on the top right part of the battery.
3. Memory and storage
Despite it is a 15-inch laptop, there is not a lot of upgradability offered. Yes, you can upgrade your memory, as there is one free slot and you have some RAM chips soldered to the motherboard. However, in order to upgrade your storage, you need to ditch your current SSD, which is not always a great idea.
4. Cooling system
As of the cooling – we are impressed to see two relatively big fans cooling the device. Of course, there is no ultimate happiness, since here the two heat pipes are going over either the CPU and the GPU. This way thermal efficiency is greatly affected, when you are using them simultaneously – e.g., when you are playing games or exporting a video.
