日本How does the new BluelightShield from Acer work and does it protect your eyes well?
The latest Aspire lineup features special technology for known as BluelightShield – it lessens eye strain by reducing blue light emission from notebook displays. It has four different modes and, according to the manufacturer, even the lowest settings will result in an 18% reduction – as effective as a pair of conventional anti-blue-light glasses.
The second option, “Mid/High reduction” will reduce blue light emission by 36% and 54%, respectively. The third one – “Long Hour Mode” is professionally tuned by Acer’s optical engineers so that you can use your machine for extended periods of time without worrying about eye strain.
We already put an engineering sample of the new Acer Aspire V3-574 through a test (which takes advantage of this technology) and ascertained a presence of Pulse-Width Modulation, but Acer contacted us and told our team that the production unit will have a different panel which doesn’t suffer from PWM. We’re going to receive one in a couple of days and you can rest assured that we’ll check, so stay tuned for our in-depth review.

I learn in the library 12 hours daily. Should I use this right from the morning 8am or just late in the night? I’m not sure so far. Starting with low in the morning to high in the evening?

Even Asus A555L has EyeCare mode. Which all laptops do have such blue light filter or which are designed for eye protection? Have not heard about such technology in Dell & HP laptops. Does it imply that they don’t have such technology? How is it that Dell & HP are unable to develop such technology when Acer and Asus can? Or is it that almost all new laptops have this technology, but it is just that some company speak it aloud and others like Dell & HP have it as common? It is not a technology. It is just a App, which takes out the blue light.
Just download f.lux. This app is even better and free for everyone.
I cannot see the Blue light Shield from Settings > Display as Aspire ES 15. Please help. I am using Windows 10.
For me, it’s in the start menu, in the list of all apps. Check the Acer folder, then find Acer Quick Access.
What about using plasma, OLED, DLP, Laser, color e-ink, or even CRT display technologies? What is the associated “risk” factor for each of these?
It is basically from what I can see on my Acer ES1-533 night mode.
