Qualcomm Snapdragon X Showdown: Specs, Performance, and Differences

Everybody is talking about the Snapdragon X processors, but nobody seems to be in on the fact that there are multiple versions of the Snapdragon X Elite, with varying levels of performance. Today we’re giving you the whole deal, comparing the specs, and performance, as well as checking out all the differences between the chips.

As you can see, there are several X Elite SoCs. All of them have the same number of cores, cache, memory type, and memory frequency (in the table below, this is labeled as transfer rate). The max frequency for all cores goes from 3.4GHz to 3.8GHz, while the lowest-grade X1E-78-100 doesn’t even have a Dual Core boost (this is where 2 of the 12 cores can boost their frequency even higher). There’s also a difference in the TFLOPS of the Adreno GPU, varying from 3.8 to 4.6 TFLOPS, which is a 21% increase.

EDIT 10/2024: Added three new Snapdragon X Plus CPUs

    Benchmarks

You can clearly see the incremental performance increase from one version to the next. If you’ll be buying a laptop with the Snapdragon X Elite, make sure to check which version of the chip you’ll getting, in order to determine if it will have enough performance for your needs. We’ll try our hardest to review as many Snapdragon X Elite and X Plus laptops as possible, in order to give you a clear and honest assessment of the performance.

Single-core performance is useful for basic tasks, web browsing, or types of software that doesn’t utilize multiple cores efficiently (most games).

Multi-core performance is useful for heavy multitasking, video editing, 3D rendering, and scientific computations.
