[Specs, Info, and Prices] Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 3 Chromebook (11”, M836) – portable and inexpensive ChromeOS device is perfect for a student or for the regular consumer

Chromebooks have silently been getting better. With Google being at the top of the food chain when it comes to the entirety of the Internet, they wouldn’t level the laptop space unattended. While previously ChromeOS was built around the Chrome browser, now it has access to the Google Play store, allowing for a multitude of apps to be installed.

Powered by an ARM-based Mediatek SoC, it has enough power to handle Chrome OS, which is in itself a very resource-efficient OS. The addition of a 360-degree hinge and a touchscreen display further make this a versatile device, which for the low price that it charges, is very appreciated.

Today we are giving you a quick overview of the Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 3 ChromeBook (11”, M836).

The Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 3 Chromebook (11”, M836) is available right now for the price of $309.99.

Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 3 Chromebook (11”, M836): Full Specs

Design

As this is a very inexpensive device, it costs around the same as a brand new phone, you shouldn’t expect wonders, in regards to the build materials. The whole Chromebook is made from plastic, but due to its small size and relatively thick exterior, it should be quite durable and withstand the test of time. Now that we mentioned the thickness, you would be pleased that despite the 18.5mm height of the laptop, it weighs only 1.20 kg, which is very manageable, especially considering the small form factor. Design and branding-wise, the laptop comes in either an Abyss Blue or an Arctic Grey, has sharp lines and rounded corners. The Lenovo logo is found on the base and the lid, with the lid, also carrying the Chromebook logo in a good-looking vertical two-tone finish.

Display

The Chromebook has one display option, which comes in a diagonal of 11.6-inches, has a 768p resolution, and uses an IPS panel. The screen has 250 nits of brightness, a contrast ratio of 800:1, and a glossy surface. Viewing angles should be pretty comfortable since according to Lenovo, the display is visible even from 170°. Being a convertible device, the screen also has touch capabilities, making it even more versatile.

Specifications and features

While Windows laptops often rely on Intel or AMD hardware, ChromeOS can run on virtually anything. The device is powered by the Mediatek MT8183, which is an ARM-based SoC. It has the ARM Mali-G72 MP3 GPU inside, which handles the graphics. Both the CPU and the CPU have eight cores, which work in an identical manner as the ones inside the now, infamous Apple M1 chip. Basically, the cores are divided into two pairs, one low-powered, but energy-efficient pair and one high-performance pair. This ensures good performance only when needed, sparing energy and ensuring a longer battery life.

I/O-wise, this little laptop has practically everything that you need. You get both a Type-A and a Type-C USB port, as well as a MicroSD card reader and a 3.5 mm audio jack.
