[Specs, Info, and Prices] MacBook Pro 13 (2022) – M2 makes its way onto the Pro series

What happens when you need a small laptop for productivity or video editing. First of all, the thing has to perform, meaning a large core count. Secondly, you need a stern cooling solution that won’t allow for fluctuations when you least need them, like tasks such as video editing, which is one continuous long load that will want stable CPU and GPU speeds. This is where the Apple MacBook Pro 13 might shine, thanks to its new M2 SoC, which, according to Apple, will both perform and preserve battery life. Contrasting the MacBook Air 13, here we have active cooling, which should have a much better handle on the M2 chip.

Today we are giving you a quick overview of the Apple MacBook Pro 13 (2022).

The Apple MacBook Pro 13 (2022) will be available in July with a starting price of $1299.

Apple MacBook Pro 13 (2022): Full Specs

Design

The laptop is entirely crafted from aluminum, which is great. Generally, MacBooks have proven themselves to be some of the most durable laptops that have had the chance to come to our office. The design is different from the other modern MacBook Pro devices, skipping the notch, and leaving the TouchBar. Yes, the OLED strip has made a quick comeback, giving you customized controls over all apps that support it. The bottom panel has some vents, to accommodate the active cooling solution, but more importantly, the thing doesn’t seem to have any feet for elevation, which is a miss in our opinion. In terms of portability, the laptop weighs only 1.40 kg and has a profile of 15.6 mm.

Display

There is a single display option, with a 13.3-inch QHD+ IPS panel with Liquid Retina technology. This means a 16:10 aspect ratio, which at this point is essential for a productivity device. The display offers up to 500 nits of brightness, which should outshine even the brightest of sunny days and well-lit rooms. Of course, since this is a MacBook, color reproduction is one of its key features. Here, you have full DCI-P3 gamut coverage, along with TrueTone technology for better color accuracy.

Specifications and features

The specs are pretty self-explanatory. Ever since Apple switched their laptops to use the Apple Silicon, things are much simpler, since you essentially get one SoC with everything that you need right from the get-go. The new M2 chip from Apple is so far showing to be a clear improvement over the M1 if the Preliminary tests are to be believed. The core count has stayed the same as the M1, but the cores are using a new architecture. The bigger improvements are done to the GPU, where we can have either an 8-core or a 10-core GPU. Since many modern rendering and productivity apps have learned to implement the graphics into the equation, we feel like this is a good addition.

Features-wise, Apple managed to fit two speakers on the base, on the left and right sides of the keyboard, which is a big win, in terms of design.

The top bezel hides an FHD Webcam, that is directly connected to the image processor inside the SoC, delivering better quality. This level of integration is both a good thing for performance and utilizing the given resources as best as possible, but a bad thing since they almost kill all repairability and upgradeability.
