The new MSI GL73 budget gaming series – prices, specs, features and configurations

As autumn is approaching, we continue with our series-related articles. Today we are looking at products meant for gaming fans who do not have that much money to spend – the MSI GL73 series. It comes as a successor to the MSI GL72M series. The new devices are different in that they sport 8th Gen Intel CPUs, all type-A USBs are 3.0, and have 3mm thicker profiles.

You can check its in-depth specs and more information here: https://laptopmedia.com/series/msi-gl73/

And so, let us briefly run through the most noteworthy aspects. Firstly, these machines are bound to deliver decent performance as they sport 8th Gen Intel processors – Intel Core i7-8750H or Intel Core i5-8300H. They take the 4th and 8th positions in our Top Laptop CPU ranking which says a lot. Graphics-wise, there is a choice of chips – NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti (4GB GDDR5) or NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 (4GB GDDR5). These combos are quite decent for the asking price – the notebooks start at $929.

Additionally, we are looking at a big 17.3-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080) TN display. The choice of panel is typical for a gaming machine. When it comes to storage devices, you can take up to 2000GB SSD + up to 1000GB HDD. As for RAM, the limit is 32 GB. What’s more, we are presented with a backlit keyboard and a USB-C port. All this promises quite a decent experience for the price range. This is basically the point of the machine – it does not stand out with anything exceptional but is meant to be a stable and reliable notebook at a normal price.

A brief mention should also be made of its competitors. These are the slightly more expensive Dell G3 17 3779, even pricier ASUS ROG SCAR Edition GL703VD, and HP OMEN 17 2018
