4 reasons to BUY the Dell G5 15 5590

1. Exceptional battery life, given the small 60Wh unit

If you want RTX graphics and H processor in a 23.7 mm (0.93″) body, you have to make some sacrifices. Well, the battery capacity is just 60Wh. However, it turned out to be enough for more than 8 hours of Web surfing at one charge.

2. Good build quality, a comfortable keyboard

Dell has used a mix of plastic and aluminum for the construction of the new G5 15 5590. It feels sturdy and durable and the palm rest is aluminum so it won’t wear in several years. Also, although it’s a bit heavier, G5 15 5590 is much smaller than its predecessor.

We liked the keyboard – it has great tactile feedback.

3. Big I/O selection, fingerprint reader

Dell G5 15 5590 has a lot of ports on its sides – everything you may need. There’s a USB Type-C Thunderbolt, 3x USB Type-A, Mini DisplayPort, HDMI, Ethernet LAN, and a Card reader.

2 reasons NOT to buy the Dell G5 15 5590

1. Gets loud and hot under stress

At continuous maximum load, G5 15’s CPU temperature reaches 90°C. It comes with a great frequency of 2.99 GHz but we’re a bit concerned about the reliability in the long term.

2. Budget screen panel

Dell G5 5590 comes with a Full HD IPS panel – AUO AUO23ED. We’d be more happy to find a bit better screen, given the price of the notebook. This one covers just 52% of the sRGB color gamut, hence the color accuracy is horrible – DeltaE = 6.5. Our profiles reduce this number to 3.6 but you’ll easily see the difference if you compare a good screen to AUO23ED. On the bright side, it doesn’t use PWM so it’s relatively safe for your eyes.
