ASUS Vivobook Go 15 (E1504F) review – extremely inexpensive and reliably fast

Verdict

Before we sum up what is right and wrong with this notebook, we have to consider its price tag. It is the only reason we could forgive its flexy, bendy body made entirely out of plastic.

Also, we can forgive the soldered memory, but we believe the reason behind it is the processor. That’s because most of the laptops with this family of CPUs actually come with the same soldered LPDDR5 5500MHz RAM. What’s good about it is that it is fast, and you can find options with 4, 8, or 16GB.

ASUS Vivobook Go 15 (E1504F)’s IPS panel has a Full HD resolution, comfortable viewing angles, and a very good contrast ratio. Thankfully, its backlight doesn’t use PWM for brightness adjustment. On the other hand, the panel only covers 57% of the sRGB gamut.

Our unit is equipped with the smaller 42Wh battery. Regardless, it lasted for 8 hours and 30 minutes of Web browsing, or more than 9 hours of video playback. On top of that, the laptop is pretty fast for daily use, which is great.

Despite the flimsy chassis, the keyboard is rather comfortable to use. Some units will feature a fingerprint reader, which together with the OLED display option, will transform the notebook into a significantly more premium machine. Actually, this is why the lack of structural integrity bugs us – you get the same chassis, regardless of the hardware you pick.

Also, the notebook lacks an SD card reader, while its USB Type-C port can only be used for data transfers, leaving you only with the HDMI 1.4 for video output.

So, at the end of the day, this is a slightly weird device. It looks more premium than it is but offers a better day-to-day experience than its price suggests.
