Lenovo ThinkBook 14s Yoga Gen 3 review – this is one fantastic little business convertible

Verdict

When we take the controversial temperature/stress test out of the way, the ThinkBook 14s Yoga Gen 3 is quite good. It has a decent performance, and you have the option to upgrade it down the line. Although it uses DDR4 RAM, both its SSD slots support Gen 4 drives.

Lenovo ThinkBook 14s Yoga Gen 3’s touch IPS panel has a Full HD resolution, comfortable viewing angles, and a good contrast ratio. It covers 97% of the sRGB color gamut and offers an accurate color representation when paired with our Gaming and Web design profile.

Moreover, its backlight doesn’t use PWM for brightness adjustment. This model comes with a dedicated stylus, which means that the display’s touch layer supports the use of styluses and Pens. In particular, the one here is hidden (and charges) inside a dedicated slot in the chassis of the laptop.

The battery life is good with up to 12 hours of Web browsing, or 10 hours of video playback on a single charge. This means you can take notes, do light work, or make a presentation without the need to charge your laptop throughout the workday.

Interestingly, the hinge of this unit is pretty smooth, which is not very common for convertibles. At the same time, it has stability and structural rigidity. As a result, you shouldn’t worry too much about breaking the laptop.

In addition, we are impressed by the port selection that includes a Thunderbolt 4 port, a couple of fast USB Type-As, and a MicroSD card slot. In contrast to most other convertibles that have their power button on the side, this one is pretty tactile and has some travel. Also, it comes with a fingerprint reader embedded into it.

Speaking of which, the keyboard is great. Furthermore, it is backlit and spill-resistant for those rare moments when you spill your coffee at night.

At the end of the day, there are hardly any negatives to tell you about. Probably it is petty that the HDMI port is stated as a 2.1, but is in fact a 2.0 in disguise. The only thing we want to see changed for next year is the size of the bezels (they need to be slimmer), while the camera would do great with an IR face recognition scanner by its side.
