Acer Swift Edge (SFX16-61G) review – thin, powerful, and noisy
With the Acer Swift Edge (SFX16-61G), the manufacturer wants to prove that a thin laptop can be also a powerful tool for productivity and gaming. You can save some bucks by choosing the IPS display variant that has nothing to hide. It boasts 1600p resolution, 165Hz refresh rate and it’s Nvidia Advanced Optimus capable. The notebook has a dGPU-only mode that can be found in the BIOS. The pricier versions of Swift Edge bring a 3.2K OLED panel to the table, as well as some of the latest and greatest AMD Zen 4-H / HS CPUs.
This means a lot of power for every occasion and new and more powerful iGPUs. For serious graphics tasks, you can count on NVIDIA Ampere or Ada Lovelace GPU options. Power users should be happy but what about the ones who are interested in thin portable laptops? Well, this notebook is also thin and light (for such hardware) so you can use it as an office machine. It looks stealthy and you can play some Assassin’s Creed Valhalla on Ultra details during the lunch break.
The expectations for this device are high – it has a top-end display, up-to-date hardware, and it’s also a portable gadget. If the cooling is good, this should be a true multipurpose gem.

I just bought this laptop and I can confirm that the PWM of this OLED panel is really bad. This is my first oled laptop and for some reason, my eyes get tired easily while using this laptop. I just learned about PWM because I can feel the effects now. I checked my previous Legion Y540 and it has no PWM, no wonder I can stare at it all day and feel ok.
