Verdict

Listen, we rarely see laptops that are this good. The fact that its processor can sustain 4.70 GHz in extreme workload conditions on all cores is absolutely impressive. Also, the cooling does a pretty good job with both the CPU and the GPU.

Do you know what is even better – having more than 11 hours worth of battery on your gaming notebook? Yes, you won’t get the maximum performance, and you will need to leave the MUX Switch to its default position, where it prioritizes the iGPU, but it doesn’t matter.

Moreover, ASUS TUF Gaming A17 (FA707, 2023)’s IPS panel has QHD resolution, comfortable viewing angles, and a good contrast ratio. It has a full sRGB and DCI-P3 color coverage, which is paired with a pretty accurate color representation. On top of that, the panel doesn’t use PWM for brightness adjustment

What makes the deal even sweeter is the fact that the device has a 240Hz refresh rate, and super fast pixel response times. This makes it super smooth and perfect for fast-paced games. In addition, this display supports G-Sync, which will eliminate any tearing you get during gaming.

Furthermore, the keyboard is decent, while the touchpad is absolutely great. Its port selection lacks an SD card reader and a Thunderbolt 4 connector. Thankfully, it has everything else you may need, including an HDMI 2.1 FRL connector. Moreover, the USB4 port makes up for the lack of a Thunderbolt one.

And on the inside, you get two DDR5 SODIMM slots and two storage slots for Gen 4 NVMe SSDs. So, after all, that we wrote, what may be wrong with this machine? Well, it’s the price. Originally, the TUF Gaming series was meant for people looking for a starter device to get them into the gaming world.

Now, ASUS appears to sell it like a cornerstone in the market. To some extent, this is not untrue – the TUF Gaming has gone a long way, and there is virtually no reason you shouldn’t get the A17 (FA707, 2023) if you are comfortable with the price tag.
