[Comparison] AMD Ryzen 3 4300U vs Ryzen 5 3500U – Surprisingly equal

In this comparison, we have two chips by AMD – the Ryzen 3 4300U versus the Ryzen 5 3500U. Both of these processors are made for mobile devices and share the same characteristics as other CPUs from the same line – low power consumption with a satisfying performance. While the Ryzen 3 4300U is on the low-end side of processors and the Ryzen 5 3500U is in the middle class we still think that the younger sibling has a chance.

    Specifications

The main difference between these two Ryzen CPUs is that the older AMD Ryzen 5 3500U has 4 cores with 8 threads whereas the newer one has 4 cores and 4 threads. In theory, this should make the older one better for multi-core applications. Multi-core applications are applications used for 3D rendering or video editing, for example.

    GPU Benchmarks

In the GPU department, both processors do quite similar and there are not many significant differences.

    Gaming capabilities

In the gaming department, the newer Ryzen 3 4300U is doing marginally than its older sibling. In CS:GO the CPU is 19% faster on average.

    Conclusion

In conclusion, both of these CPUs perform very well for their price range. In terms of CPU power, the newer Ryzen 3 4300U is faster in our Photoshop benchmark with 28% while in the other benchmark the older Ryzen 5 3500U is only 5% faster. For casual gaming, both of these CPUs do alright but we have to give it to the new one for being 19% faster in CS:GO. All in all, if you need to choose between those two processors for your system, keep in mind that the older one would be better in multi-core tasks while the younger is better in graphic-intensive tasks.
