Microsoft announced three new Lumia models at their event yesterday as well as other Surface devices, but more on that in this article. Back to the phones which are Lumia 550, Lumia 950 and Lumia 950XL.

Lumia 550

Lumia 550 is the most affordable model of the three. It features a 4.7-inch LCD display with HD (720×1280) resolution. It is powered by a Snapdragon 210 SoC, which has four Cortex-A7 cores, clocked at 1.1GHz and 1GB of RAM. Looking at the specs sheet, we see a 5MP rear camera, 2100 mAh battery and 8GB of internal storage which can be expanded via microSD memory card slot. The design is simplistic and the construction is made of plastic. The thickness of the device is 9.9 mm and it will be available in a variety of colors.

Lumia 950 and Lumia 950XL

The other two Lumia devices seem to be more interesting, as they offer top shelf hardware. The main differences between the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950XL is in their screen size – the first one has a 5.2-inch display while the second one features a 5.7-inch. Another difference comes from the SoC because the CPU found in Lumia 950 is Snapdragon 808, which offers two Cortex-A57 cores and four Cortex-A53 cores. Lumia 950XL, however, features Qualcomm’s stop chip – Snapdragon 810 as it boasts two addition Cortex-A57 cores to the Snapdragon 808. Screen resolution is the same on both devices – 1440 x 2560 as well as the main camera on the back. Just like 930, both devices feature a 20MP PureView rear camera but tt should be noted that with the new models comes a new generation of OIS. There is also a triple LED flash aiding in poorly lit conditions and up front both devices have a 5MP sensor. Thanks to the new Windows Hello feature, you can unlock your devices using face recognition.

Furthermore, both devices house batteries with different capacities but wireless Qi charging stays in both. According to the manufacturer, you should be able to get to 50% charge in just 30 minutes. Thanks to the USB Type-C connector, users should be able to take advantage of the Continuum feature in Windows 10, which basically turns the phone into a computer by connecting it to an external monitor. Both 950 and 950XL offer removable and changeable back covers and Microsoft have prepared a variety of colors and materials. For example you can go with a leather back cover if that suits your taste.

Prices

Both top-tier models will be available on the global market next month, as Lumia 950’s price will be $549, while Lumia 950XL – $649. Far more budged friendly is the Lumia 550, as it will cost only $139.
