The GIGABYTE U4 is an interesting new device from the Taiwanese brand. While they are well known in the PC gaming space, producing high-end motherboards, RAM, and most importantly, Graphics cards, they are a relatively new player in the laptop market, and for now have only made gaming and Creator laptops under their AORUS and GIGABYTE brands.

Unknown to many consumers, they are also a big player in the Enterprise sector, providing server equipment and cloud-computing solutions. Today we see their entry into the business and productivity space with the U4, bringing Tiger Lake and a portable body.

Design

In terms of design, the laptop has a minimal and sleek exterior, something that we see a lot of these days. It has some unique features as well, such as the white stripe on the lid, which GIGABYTE might as well trademark, given the fact that manufacturers are all looking for a defining mark or a logo to mark their laptops with. The notebook is crafted from aluminum, sporting a weight and height of 0.99 kg and 17.2 mm, respectively. You would be pleased to know that the laptop has passed the Military Standard 810H certification, which includes vibration, shock, extreme temperatures, humidity, and other tests, meaning that it is ready for any occasion.

Display

The laptop uses a 14-inch Full HD IPS display. Furthermore, the bezels are quite thin, which makes the device look even more modern. The hinge allows for fully flat positioning, while the panel itself covers 100% of the sRGB gamut, meaning that the laptop can be used for color-sensitive work.

The laptop is available with a single CPU option, the Core i7-1195G7. It has a boost clock speed of 5.00 GHz, which would probably be hardly achievable, considering the thin chassis. The CPU has the Iris Xe Graphics G7 iGPU, which is by far the best-integrated graphics that you can find in a mobile CPU made by Intel or AMD.
