NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M vs GeForce GTX 950M – benchmarks and real gaming performance comparison

GeForce-GTX-950M-vs-GTX-960M

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M and GeForce GTX 950M are two of the most popular graphic cards on the market right now. Their TDP allows them to be integrated in lightweight notebooks, and their performance is high enough to give you smooth gameplay in most of the latest games. Both GPUs feature Battery Boost for longer playtime without your charger, ShadowPlay for recording your pleasant gaming moments, and Optimus for maximum battery life optimization and energy saving when you don’t use demanding applications.

A lot of manufacturers are choosing GTX 960M and GTX 950M for their lines – Acer, ASUS, Alienware, MSI, Lenovo and HP, among others. But when price is one of the most important factors, which GPU should we invest our money in? What is the difference between them in terms of real world usage? We’re going to put 960M and 950M against some heavy games and share FPS results at minimum, medium and maximum graphics settings.

Of course, we’ll check the performance with synthetic benchmarks as well, using 3DMark and Unigine Heaven.

Check out our Laptop Graphics Ranking, where you can find more information about the two graphic solutions on their dedicated pages:

It’s intended for users to see what’s the difference between the GPUs and decide whether or not is worth paying for a more powerful notebook. Is the performance/cost ratio is good for their budget?

The price difference of laptops with these GPUs is like 700 and 1000 € (in Hungary). You get 25-30% more performance for 40-45% more money. I’m really wondering if it’s worth it.
