ASUS: The New AMD Radeon 880M Is Powerful Enough To Run Some AAA Games, Close to RTX 3050

According to the product page for the new Strix Point-based ASUS Vivobook S in China, we can expect about a 15% performance leap for the Radeon 880M GPU integrated into the AMD Ryzen AI 9 365 compared to its predecessor, the Radeon 780M.

ASUS has also compared it to the still very popular, though somewhat outdated, dedicated RTX 3050, claiming that the Radeon 880M is close to its 40W TGP variant. In the Time Spy benchmark, the 880M falls behind by 17%.

We’ve tested the 40W RTX 3050 in MSI Prestige 15 (A12Ux) and Acer Swift X, achieving scores of 4240 pts and 3430 pts, respectively. Our average result for the Radeon 780M is 2535 pts, so if the 880M is 15% faster, we can expect about 2900 pts from it. In that scenario, the 880M could indeed be approximately 17% slower than the 40W RTX 3050 if ASUS has chosen a slightly weaker contender for their comparison.

ASUS claims that the 880M is powerful enough to run mainstream MOBA, FPS, and even many AAA games, but we’ll definitely verify that in a few days when the Strix Point laptops hit the market and, subsequently, our laboratory.
