CryTek to include Vulkan API and DirectX 12 Multi-GPU support in CryEngine

50aCryEngine is a gaming engine thanks to which games such as Crysis, Crysis 2, and Crysis 3 look so beautiful. Other titles developed with this engine are Evolve, Armored Warfare, Ryse: Son of Rome, and others. Each of these games offers a great atmosphere and graphics, and as an addition to all this, CryTek (the developer of CryEngine) stated that Vulkan API will be supported as of November, this year. The version that will support the application programming interface is CryEngine 5.3. It will be implemented on both PCs and mobile devices (smartphones, tablets).

Apart from Vulkan API, CryTek shared that DirectX 12 Multi-GPU (more than one GPU) support will also be part of the new engine version – CryEngine 5.4. It is expected to be released in February 2017. Considering the increase of FPS in games that support DirectX 12 (Hitman, Rise of The Tomb Raider) and Vulkan API (Doom), we can’t wait to see how the German company will manage and what games it will offer to end users who have GPUs that support the above-listed technologies.
