Intel Gemini Lake SoC graphics will support 10-bit VP9 decoding

Intel Gemini Lake is an upcoming generation of low-powered SoCs designed for tablets and ultra-affordable PCs. The new Pentium and Celeron processors will be the direct successors to the currently available Apollo lake chips.

The new Gemini Lake SoCs will feature a four-way denote unit which is 33% wider than this of the Apollo Lake chips. The new SoC will also feature a more feature-packed graphics chip. You will get hardware decoding support for 10-bit (1.07 billion-color) video formats, for instance VP9 Profile2. Apollo Lake chips only supported hardware decoding up to VP9 8-bit Profile0.

Here is a list of all the added decoding support: H.264/MPEG-2/VC-1/JPEG/VP8/HEVC/HEVC 10-bit/VP9/VP9 10-bit.
