We’re just a couple of days away from the official Motorola event in New York (you can watch it live here), when the American company will officially unveil its new Moto X, Moto G, and perhaps even more devices. Its no question that the new third generation Moto G and X will steal the show, so we’re sure that you’ll be interested to know more about those popular phones.

We have the new Moto G3, and we can’t wait to share our in-depth review with you. Until it’s done, we can let you know what some of our first impressions are since we’ve been using the phone.

At first, we should mention that it’s slightly bigger than its predecessor, Moto G2 (2nd gen) – as you’ve probably seen in our detailed specs table, we measured dimensions of 141.9mm (5.59”) / 72.3 mm (2.85”) / 11.2mm (0.44”), which is a bit more than G2’s 141.5 x 70.7 x 11 mm, although the screen diagonal is the same. The difference in height and depth is pretty indistinguishable, but you can clearly see that the left and right borders of the screen are slightly thicker.

As is typical for Moto, the build quality is great. The brushed back gives you nice grip and the phone lies comfortably in your hand. Moto G3 (3rd gen) weights 154 g (5.43 oz), which means that it’s just 5 grams heavier than Moto G2. You can take a better look at G3’s body details here.

As for performance, we expected a bigger bump, but G3’s upgrade is minor – instead of Snapdragon 400 (4x [email protected] and Adreno 305), as in G2, G3 runs on Snapdragon 410 with four Cortex-A53 cores at 1.4 GHz and Adreno 306. The RAM is 1GB for the 8GB storage version that we’ve got (3.16GB available), but there are leaks suggesting 2GBs of RAM for the 16GB model.
