This device looks good – big screen, small bezels, thin, light, matte finish on the back, and round edges. Thanks to the latter you can put it in one of the pockets of your jacket with ease. The Huawei tablet has a big and bright 2K screen which is an IPS one – you can expect pleasant viewing angles and vibrant colors. With this device, you can read long texts without staring closely at the display thanks to the high resolution, the high 280 ppi, and the 16:10 screen ratio which is better for reading or browsing than the standard 16:9 one.
Hardware-wise, this device definitely has something to offer. It uses the latest HiSilicon Kirin 990(7 nm+) chipset. It has octa-core CPU – (2×2.86 GHz Cortex-A76 & 2×2.09 GHz Cortex-A76 & 4×1.86 GHz Cortex-A55) and the GPU is the powerful Mali-G76 MP16. As for the software, you can enjoy the latest Android 10 whit all its new features and security patches alongside Huawei’s own EMUI 10 custom interface. The MatePad Pro has enough power for decent multitasking without any hiccups – for example, you can watch high-bitrate videos while downloading some big files and have an opened browser with a lot of tabs on it, that’s now a problem for this tablet.
You can have the device with 6GB or 8GB RAM so you will never be out of system memory, at least for some years ahead. Of course, the 8GB version is more future-proof. The 6GB version comes with 128GB internal storage while the 8GB one has 256GB storage. If you need more space you can expand the storage with a TF card up to 256GB – combined with the internal storage you can have a tablet with half-terabyte of space. The device supports 4G (option) as well – put a Nano-SIM in it (with a data plan) and you can browse the Web with high-speed. If you choose the WiFI only version you have to share your data from the smartphone or search for some available WiFi network close to your location.
The front camera of this tablet is 13MP one, with LED flash, HDR option, and it supports panorama mode as well. You can record 4K or 1080p videos both with high-bitrate. The front camera has an 8 MP sensor that features HDR too and it can record 1080p videos.
Some other stuff – OTG is supported, a USB 3.1 Type-C 1.0, the device supports fast battery charging (40W) and Fast wireless charging (15W). Speaking of battery, it’s a Li-Po one with a capacity of 7250 mAh – sounds good. On board you can find four speakers and a 3.5mm jack. This tablet is compatible with the cool M-Pen and keyboard cover accessories as well (both are not included, can be bought separately).
The Huawei MatePad Pro is a great modern fast tablet. It has a big IPS screen with 2K resolution, big battery, it supports fast charging and wireless charging too. You can have it with 6GB or 8GB RAM, the internal storage is more than enough for the regular user (128GB and 256GB), you can expand it with TF card as well.
The device is light for such a big screen and it can fit in some big pockets. It’s powerful enough to replace your laptop if you need something more portable with you while walking in the park. If you want to take some pictures while still outside it’s not a problem thanks to the two cameras of the device. If there will be a version with 12-something screen with a way lower price than Ipad Pro, I will buy it directly. I am really looking for a replacement for my aging, but very loved, galaxy note pro 12.2. So, I heard a rumour (..or maybe just speculation). Somebody who actully knows something about it?
