Quick look at Lenovo Vibe S1 Lite – first impressions, camera, performance

Lenovo Vibe S1 Lite is a model that was officially announced in the beginning of this year at CES in Las Vegas. It is based on the Vibe S1 which was announced several months earlier. Despite the shape being almost the same, the Lite version doesn’t feature a metal frame and glass back – they have now been replaced with a cheaper plastic. This, however, doesn’t lead to bad appearance, and we can say that its design is nice for this price range. It is namely the different use of materials that has lead to the lower price.

Vibe S1 Lite features a sleek matte back and you can notice some fingerprints on it only from a certain angle – at least this was the case with the white version we were able to test. The profile is 8.6 mm thick but the sides are slightly chamfered which creates a feeling for a thinner device and contributes to better grip. You will not be able to remove tha back cover yourself, and the available slots are accessible with the help of a special tool included in the package. Speaking of slots – this device offers two SIM card slots (micro and nano), and the second shares its position with a microSD card, so you will have to choose between the two.

The phone also features a 5″ IPS display with Full HD resolution (1920 x 1080). This provides a high-detailed image and the pixel density is 441 ppi. You can also observe high brightness and contrast levels which ensure easy operation with the device when outdoors.

This Lenovo offers a main 13MP camera with a dual LED flash, autofocus and f/2.2 aperture value. It is also capable of Full HD video recording, and you can find several modes and basic manual settings. The two photos below display the camera quality of the Vibe S1 Lite. Furthermore, this model also features an 8MP front camera, which also has an aperture value of f/2.2 and LED flash. Selfie fans will be happy not only with its beautiful photos, but also with its ability to be controlled by voice or gestures, and its beauty slider.

In comparison to the original Vibe S1, its Lite version comes with a slightly bigger battery capacity of 2700 mAh, and considering the similar main energy consumers, a single charge should lead to longer durability.

We also expect decent performance for this class, as the model has a MediaTek MT6753 mobile CPU with eight Cortex-A53 cores ticking at 1.3 GHz. It also offers a Mali-T720 GPU and 2GB RAM. The phone’s internal storage is 16GB, 6GB of which are occupied by OS files.

Vibe S1 Lite comes with a pre-installed Android 5.1 Lollipop and you also get Lenovo’s UI. It brings completely new design to the various menus and icons. We can’t find some of the functions the Vibe S1 has though. On the other hand, there are a lot of pre-installed apps.
