Dell Inspiron 13 7306 2-in-1: Full Specs / In-depth Review

3 reasons to BUY the Dell Inspiron 13 7306 2-in-1

1. The Design

With a body that is entirely made out of aluminum, we expect superb structural rigidity. While the lid remained free of flexes and twists we couldn’t say the same about the base, which was able to be bent more than it should, in our opinion. Looks-wise, the laptop is good-looking, with the aluminum body having an anodized finish, which gives the laptop a premium and cool-to-the-touch feeling. The dimensions are also quite good, considering that this is a convertible, with the device weighing only 1.23 kg and being 15.9mm tall at the thickest.

2. The Display

The Dell Inspiron 13 7306 2-in-1 has two 13.3-inch touchscreen IPS options for its display: one Full HD panel, which we had in our configuration, and one 4K panel, which is sure to be a treat to look at and use. The Full HD screen has comfortable viewing angles and an excellent contrast ratio. Color coverage is one of its strong suits, with the panel covering 96% of the sRGB color gamut.

Moving over to the color accuracy, we tested the panel with the 24 most commonly used colors with both the factory setting and with our “Gaming and web design” profile applied. In the test, we saw an average dE value of 1.2, which is within the standard and is generally quite good.

Below you can compare the scores of Dell Inspiron 13 7306 2-in-1 with the default settings (left), and with the “Gaming and Web design” profile (right).

2 reasons NOT to buy the Dell Inspiron 13 7306 2-in-1

1. The Upgradeability

With small devices, such as this one, one of the first things that you have to say goodbye to is upgradability. On the Dell Inspiron 13 7306 2-in-1, the situation is 50/50, with the storage being upgradeable via one M.2 PCIe x4 drive, while the quite fast dual-channel memory is soldered onto the board.

Below we will level our detailed teardown video if you’re serious about upgrading the storage on the Dell Inspiron. It will provide you with all the steps of how to safely get access to the storage, which we assure you is quite easy.

2. The Cooling

Cooling this little laptop is a single, but quite thick heat pipe, along with a heat spreader and a low-profile fan. The setup doesn’t do a good job of keeping the CPU temps in reasonable temps with our stress test showing that the Core i7-1165G7 throttles down to 2.04GHz @ 83°C in the last few minutes of the test. The test consists of using 100% of the CPU cores under heavy load, in various lengths of time.

Intel Core i7-1165G7 (15W TDP)0:02 – 0:10 sec0:15 – 0:30 sec10:00 – 15:00 min

As far as comfort is concerned, the keyboard reaches 46.5°C, which while it is a bit too much, at least your hands will be warm. Fortunately, the device wasn’t that loud, even with the fan running at max speeds.
