MediaTek announced a new mobile chip which is a direct successor to the popular Helio P10. Its name is Helio P15 and it comes with eight Cortex-A53 cores again but this time they are ticking at up to 2.2GHz and not 2GHz (as it is with Helio P10). Additionally, the situation with the GPU is nearly the same – we are again presented with a Mali-T860MP2 but with an operating frequency up to 800 MHz and not 700MHz (previous model).

MediaTek claims that this ensures 10% performance increase and it also improves energy efficiency. The chip uses a 28nm technological process just like the Helio P10, and it also supports LTE Cat. 6 connectivity. Unfortunately, there is no information as regards the appearance of these chips in smart devices.
