A new design, new hardware, but the same formula for making a great notebook. Every time you see the Yoga name in a Lenovo laptop, be ready for some flexible and convertible shenanigans.

Today we have the two most recent Yoga devices, the 7i, and the 9i, which come with new displays and Alder Lake. These are premium notebooks, with the build quality and features to match, sporting fantastic displays with Stylus support.

Today we are giving you a quick overview of the Lenovo Yoga 7i (16″, 2022) and the Yoga 9i (14″, 2022).

The Lenovo Yoga 7i (16″, 2022) and the Yoga 9i (14″, 2022) will be available starting in April with a starting price of $899 and $1,399, respectively.

Design

The laptops are very similar-looking, despite the obvious size difference. Dressed in silver, they have an aluminum design that will remain cool and durable. Contrasting with other business and premium laptops, the Yoga 7i and Yoga 9i come with round edges and round corners. The sides are especially interesting, as they are very glossy, almost chrome-like finish. The lids come with Lenovo and Yoga branding, but they remain flush with the lid color and arent intrusive.

Display

Starting with the Yoga 7i, it brings two 16-inch, 16:10 panels with either a 2.5K IPS display with 400 nits of brightness and 100% sRGB coverage or a 2.8K OLED display with 100% DCI-P3 coverage and Dolby Vision.

Moving over to the Yoga 9i, it gets three display options, with a 14-inch diagonal. The base model offers an FHD+ IPS panel with a 400 nit peak brightness, and 100% sRGB coverage. Next, we have a QHD+ (2880x1800p) panel with the same peak brightness but increasing the coverage to 100% of the DCI-P3 gamut. Finally, we have a 4K UHD+ OLED panel with the same brightness and coverage as the QHD+ display.

Specifications and features

Lastly, we have the specs, which are pretty spaced out on the Yoga 7i, which features both Alder Lake P-series and H-series processors. The Yoga 9i features only Alder Lake P-series chips. Both laptops use the same iGPUs, with either the 80EU or the 96EU versions of the Iris Xe Graphics G7.

In terms of features, both laptops bring good I/O coverage, sporting a total of two USB Type-A 3.2 (Gen. 1) ports, two Thunderbolt 4 ports, an HDMI 2.0 port, an SD card reader, and a 3.5 mm audio jack. There is also an optional fingerprint reader. What comes as standard, however, is an FHD Webcam with an IR sensor for facial recognition, a backlit keyboard, and quad-stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos.
