Last night, at HTC’s event, the manufacturer officially revealed the new HTC One A9 smartphone. This isn’t the company’s new flagship device, but the fact that it is part of the One series, means that we’re dealing with a high-end model. HTC One A9’s design resembles the one we saw in the last two iPhone generations, mainly due to its metal body and thin profile – only 7.3 mm.

As far as its specs go, we’re dealing with a 5-inch AMOLED display with Full HD resolution (441 ppi), protected by Gorilla Glass 4. After the initial doubts about exactly which SoC will be powering the A9, it is now clear that it is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 617. It boasts eight Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.5GHz and integrates the Adreno 405 GPU. The phone will be available with 2GB or 3GB of RAM and depending on the version you get the internal storage is 16GB or 32GB respectively. Despite its unibody construction, the device features a microSD memory card slot that supports up to 200GB of additional storage.

It will be interesting to test the durability of the phone’s 2150 mAh battery. And while its capacity may not seem all that impressive it fits into the normal range, considering the device’s extremely thin body. According to HTC, a single charge of the battery should be enough to provide over 16 hours of talk time. HTC One A9 also puts emphasis on the cameras – the rear unit has a 13MP sensor with OIS, double LED flash and Full HD video recording capability, while the front uses the well-known UltraPixel technology. A pleasant addition to what seems to be already a great smartphone is the fingerprint scanner and, of course, HTC One A9 runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box.
