HP EliteBook 840 G10 review – Business Laptop with a Breathtaking Display
Verdict
If you need a capable business device and money isn’t a problem, the HP EliteBook 840 G10 should be on your shortlist. This machine offers a solid all-metal chassis, comfortable input devices, and a capable cooling solution with a near-quiet fan. Our laptop is configured with the optional Core i7-1360P. This 28W 12-core CPU is well-cooled here. Even in long CPU loads, the max temperature is 69°C which is good, especially when you add the low noise in the mix. The fan can be turned off completely if you deselect the “Fan always on while on AC Power” option in the BIOS.
The upgradability is decent. You get two SODIMMs, one M.2 slot for Gen 4 SSDs, and a WWAN slot for LTE or 5G connectivity. The I/O is very nice for a 14-incher (two Thunderbolt 4 ports + two Type-As). The display is the main event. This optional 16:10 IPS unit (AUO AUO6DA8) is mind-blowingly good. It offers a 120Hz refresh rate, 100% sRGB + 99% DCI-P3 coverage, and surprisingly snappy pixel response times for such a panel. In addition, the screen is PWM-free and it boasts a 614 cd/m2 max brightness which is a rare find in the business segment. Last but not least, thanks to our “Design and Gaming” profile, the color accuracy reaches an average dE result of 1.1 which is great and allows you to use the laptop for color-sensitive tasks such as professional photo or video video editing.
We have no complaints regarding the input devices. Just don’t forget that the backlight for the keyboard is optional. You also have to pay more if you need extras like a fingerprint reader or IR Web camera. Still, the privacy shutter is standard for all machines. The battery life is good – 10 hours of Web browsing on a single charge. That’s just fine considering the 1600p display and the P-series processor.

ich habe das Teil von meiner Firma bekommen, ohne eine Wahl zu haben. Ich finde es katastrophal. Der Akku ist sehr schnell leer und lässt sich nur mit dem Original Ladegerät aufladen. Der Lüfter läuft fast die ganze Zeit und ist sehr laut, dabei nutze ich nur Office Anwendungen ohne aufwändige Videos oder ähnliches. Kann nur abraten von dem Gerät.
