1. Design and build quality

The laptop has a very strong aluminum chassis that is also quite portable. The whole thing weighs only 1.90 kg and has a profile of 18.4 mm at the back, with the front being even thinner. In terms of the design itself, we have sharp edges, rounded corners, and next to no branding. There are the small Lenovo wordmarks on the lid and base, but that’s pretty much it. The lid opens easily with one hand, revealing thin bezels, a Webcam on top, with a reverse notch.

The base has a full keyboard with a NumPad and well-sized keycaps. The unit offers decent key travel, but we have seen longer along with clicky feedback. All in all, it is comfortable for typing. The touchpad is quite large and comes with a Mylar surface, which is very smooth. Above the keyboard, you can see the speaker grill, which houses Dolby Atmos speakers.

2. I/O

The I/O consists of two USB Type-A 3.2 (Gen. 1) ports, a single USB Type-C 3.2 (Gen. 2) port, an HDMI 1.4b connector, a 3.5 mm audio jack, and an SD card reader.

3. Display quality

The configuration that we tested came with a QHD+ IPS display. It offers comfortable viewing angles, a max brightness of 367 nits in the middle of the screen and 361 nits as an average for the whole area, with a maximum deviation of 9%. The brightness uniformity is good enough for color-sensitive work. The contrast ratio is also quite good – 1470:1. In terms of color reproduction, the panel covers 89% of the sRGB color gamut, which should be enough.

The colors needed some work, with the stock settings reaching a dE value of 6.0 in our color accuracy test. Once we applied our Design and Gaming profile, the dE value went down to 1.7, which is good enough. With a 75Wh battery unit, which is the middle ground between a smaller 50Wh unit and a big 90 or 99Wh boy, the laptop manages to last for 11 hours of Web browsing or 10 hours of video playback. Now, we conduct the battery tests with Windows Better performance setting turned on, screen brightness adjusted to 120 nits, and all other programs turned off except for the one we are testing the notebook with.
