Quick look at Lenovo K6 – first impressions, camera, performance

In last year’s beginning Lenovo officially presented Vibe K5. Shortly after its release the smartphone quickly grew in popularity as it combined good features at a fair price point. Lenovo didn’t even wait until the end of the year to announce K6 in September. Lenovo K6 brings some new improvements over its predecessor that we are about to show you in this quick look. Stay tuned for our extended review.

We see that the metal construction hasn’t changed and we like that because it’s still an advantage in this price range. Edges are now rounded which gives the phone a better look and makes it easier to handle. The weight and width of the phone have barely been touched – they are still 140 grams and 8.2 mm respectively. The surface is slippery so we advise being careful. At least it doesn’t attract too many fingerprints. Speaking of which, this time around we have a fingerprint sensor on the back of the device that can be used not only for unlocking the phone but for taking pictures too.

We see improvements it the hardware department too. K6 is equipped with a Snapdragon 430 chip which is an octa-core processor with a Cortex-A53 core clocked up to 1.4 GHz. It’s going to be our first time in testing a device with that SoC so we can’t wait to do all the benchmarks and tell you the results. You can see how the phone handles the Geekbench 3 (left) and 3DMark Ice Unlimited (right) tests below. The smartphone comes with 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal storage, though the operating system itself takes up 6.35 GB.

The display is still 5 inches but this time around the IPS panel has a resolution of 1920 x 1080p (Full HD). This will result in higher pixel density which means more detailed images. In the menu, you will find features like Brightness protection or a way to make the colors more saturated.

Lenovo K6 comes with pre-installed  Android 6.0 Marshmallow with Lenovo’s Vibe user interface on top. Visually it’s almost the same as before and all the added features by the custom UI are present. We will further talk about them in the upcoming full review.

The smartphone has a 13-megapixel rear camera with autofocus and a LED flash. It has lots of different modes such as HDR, panorama, recording slow or fast motion video and of course the Pro mode which gives you the ability to manually adjust the white balance, shutter speed, exposure etc. Here are some sample photos to give you an example of the camera’s performance.
