Lenovo ThinkPad L13 Yoga Gen 4 (Intel) review – transformer with color-accurate display and near-silent cooling fan

Verdict

The Lenovo ThinkPad L13 Yoga Gen 4 (Intel) can impress business users with its near-silent fan under max CPU load and comfortable input devices. The machines feel snappy during any kind of usage but there are well-performing devices out there with the same processor (in our case, that’s the optional Core i7-1355U). The reason for that is the modest cooling that is tuned to favor comfort over performance – especially the frequencies under long loads are nothing special.

On the other hand, the battery life is great, no matter the modest capacity of just 46Wh – more than 14 hours of Web browsing on a single charge is an outstanding result! The upgradability is poor which is something normal for most modern thin and light machines. The memory is soldered but at least you can order the device with 32GB of LPDDR5 memory that works in dual-channel mode. The single M.2 slot that is compatible with the shorter 2242 Gen 4 SSDs can raise a few eyebrows.

The 16:10 IPS touchscreen is an unpolished diamond. The out-of-the-box color accuracy is nothing to write home about – a 3.7 score. Thanks to our “Design and Gaming” profile, the average dE value is enhanced to a 0.9 result and that’s great! So, you can use the display for color-sensitive work since the sRGB coverage is also very high – 98%. The lack of PWM usage is good news for all users.

The main disadvantage of this device is the flexible base and the fact that a lot of useful features are optional. On the other hand, the 360-degree hinge allows you to use the notebook in tablet, tent, and stand modes (or as a normal clamshell laptop). Also, the I/O is modern, it offers two Type-C ports (one of them is a Thunderbolt 4 / USB 4) and an HDMI 2.1.

Lenovo ThinkPad L13 Yoga Gen 4 (Intel) is a 2-in-1 machine that offers great comfort under load, long battery life, and a color-accurate PWM-free display.
