Acer Aspire 5 (A515-51) will sport the new Intel Core i7-8550U CPU (detailed specs + price)

Yesterday we shared information about the new Core i7-8550U CPU which gives us a lot of information about Intel’s upcoming eighth generation Coffee Lake processors. We ran a few benchmarks and even tested the CPUs real life performance. Without spoiling you the whole article too much, we can say that the now quad-core i7 ULV chip is almost as powerful as the  Intel Core i5-7300HQ.

Moving on to the point of this article, the Acer Aspire 5 (A515-51) will be one of the first models to ship with the new Core i7-8550U and a chip from the new generation at all. The Aspire 5 will set you back $699 but it will provide you the earliest experience of the new generation. The Core i7-8550U is a quad-core chip with Hyper-Threading. It has a base frequency of 1.80 GHz and 8 MB of cache. It features the same iGPU as the previous generation – the HD Graphics 620. The Aspire 5 will not feature a dedicated GPU so you will have to rely on the integrated one.
