[Comparison] AMD Ryzen 5 5500U vs Core i7-1165G7 – the AMD CPU stumbled at its first loss, being worse in every benchmark except one
The competition in the CPU field is getting more intense with every passing second. As AMD keeps its stranglehold on the processor market, Intel is trying every play in its book to shake up the status quo and find a way to reclaim its place as the best processor manufacturer.
AMD put in action their Ryzen 5000U-series chips and we have the Ryzen 5 5500U at our disposal. To test its performance, today we will compare it to one of the best that Intel has right now, the Core i7-1165G7.

CPU benchmarks
In the 3D Rendering test with Cinebench 20, the Ryzen 5 5500U was the better processor, scoring 11% higher. Things were different, however, as in the Photoshop benchmark, the Core i7 showed up and finished the test with a lead of nearly 0.7 seconds. This makes the Intel CPU better for Image processing and 2D Rendering, with the AMD chip being faster in 3D Rendering workloads.

GPU benchmarks
The graphics tests are where the Iris Xe Graphics G7 showed its supremacy. In all of the tests, it performed better, with some of the performance gains being close to triple-digit numbers. To go into detail it was 64%, 14%, and 79% quicker in 3DMark Fire Strike, Unigine Heaven 4.0, and Unigine Superposition, respectively.

Conclusion
In short, the Ryzen 5 5500U found its match and lost, but it didn’t go down without a fight. It won in the 3DRendering benchmark and lost in the Photoshop one. In the GPU benchmarks, the Radeon RX Vega 7 got absolutely demolished by the Iris Xe Graphics G7. In addition to that, in the gaming tests, the Intel iGPU was the better performer across all games and visual settings. There is a little caveat, though. In order to extract everything out of the integrated graphics cards, especially the Iris Xe one, you need fast RAM in dual-channel mode.
