De ASUS TUF Gaming A16 FA607 (2024) is een gebalanceerd gaming apparaat dat geen arm en een been kost. Je krijgt niet veel CPU en GPU opties, maar de Dragon Range-HX CPU’s leveren veel kracht en de NVIDIA GPU’s zijn niet TGP gelimiteerd. De koeling doet zijn werk goed. De Ryzen 9 7845HX kan bijna 4,00 GHz aan bij lange 100% CPU belastingen en de GeForce RTX 4060 heeft een 2610 MHz kernklok bij gaming. De ventilatoren zijn zeker luid in de “Turbo” modus. Als je terugschakelt naar “Prestaties”, blijft de processorklok fatsoenlijk (~3,60 GHz) terwijl de vermogenslimiet van de grafische kaart ~80W is.
Het basis PWM-vrije 1200p IPS paneel (CSOT MNG007QA1-1 (CSW1639)) is verrassend goed. Het is snel dankzij de verversingssnelheid van 165 Hz en de pixelreactietijden van 9 ms. De sRGB dekking is 93% en de kleurnauwkeurigheid kan worden verbeterd van een 3.1 score naar een gemiddeld dE resultaat van 1.2 wanneer ons “Design and Gaming” profiel wordt toegepast.
Het toetsenbord is comfortabel voor zowel typen als gamen en het touchpad is soepel en precies. De upgrademogelijkheden zijn goed – twee M.2 slots voor Gen 4 SSD’s en een duo SODIMM’s voor DDR5 geheugen. De I/O lijkt op zijn minst fatsoenlijk, maar er zijn geen Thunderbolt 4 poorten. Toch zouden vier USB-poorten in totaal + een HDMI 2.1 voldoende moeten zijn voor de meeste gebruikers. De belangrijkste nadelen van de machine zijn de korte batterijduur bij het afspelen van video’s en de hoge NVMe-temperaturen tijdens benchmarks.
