Acer Predator G6-710 – dissasembly, internal photos and upgrade options

As we already mentioned in our first impressions article, Acer Predator G6-710 is already in our lab. However, before we share our full in-depth review, we’re going to take a look at its upgrade options and see what’s hiding underneath this beastly casing of his.

Removing the rear cover

The removal of the rear cover is a fairly easy task, however there’s a small catch. In order for you to reach it, you’ll need to remove the rear part of the machine, which is held by two plugs camouflaged with the same color as the casing itself. They are located at the bottom and release the rear part when pressed.

After this, slide the upper part a bit and you should successfully remove the smaller shell of the box. The rear cover is connected to the chassis via two screws that are removed with a crosshead screwdriver. The internals are revealed after you push the rear part a bit. We noticed that the rear cover is quite big and isn’t at all light.

Cooling system and hardware arangement

Even before we opened the box, we knew that the charging station is located at the top of the box, which can only mean one thing – the GPU must be at the bottom. Our prediction was confirmed and if you’re wondering if this will affect the temperatures and clock speeds of the GPU, you’ll find the answer in our full in-depth review.

The rest of the hardware is standardly positioned. The CPU cooling module is located between the power supply and the GPU, and there’s an extra vent, positioned across from it that pumps out the hot air. Aside from that, the power supply also pushes the heat out, since the large paddle sucks the air and pushes it out. Keep in mind that the dimensions of the RAM sticks, as well as the cooling module – you won’t be able to replace both of them.

Both 2TB HDDs are located at the front, since the machine has a DVD drive and a third HDD, which is found at the top and it’s easy to remove, thanks to the Easy-Swap Expansion. Cable management isn’t the greatest, which means that the airflow is limited.

Upgrade options

Desktop machines are a great choice for users who like to oftenly upgrade their device, since you can always swap and upgrade . You can replace every single part of the hardware, as well as add SSDs or more HDDs, if you ever find yourself needing more storage space. The machine we got with us had two 2TB Seagate HDDs working at 7200 rpm and one 1TB HDD, which, as we already mentioned, is removed with a single press of a button, located at the front side of the casing.
