ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 GA402 (2023) can be easily turned into a top-notch laptop for graphic design

When purchasing the ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 GA402 (2023) for our review, we opted for the model with a WQXGA (2560 x 1600), 165 Hz, IPS panel. This proved to be an excellent choice, as the display quality results from our laboratory indicate that it covers 100% of the sRGB and 98% of the DCI-P3 color gamuts, delivering an exceptionally vibrant and appealing image.

The only drawback is the low color accuracy, measured by the DeltaE value – the higher the number, the greater the distance to the true color. Values below 2.0 are considered suitable for color-sensitive work. Out of the box, the Zephyrus G14 GA402 has a DeltaE of 2.5, which isn’t far away but not within the professional standard.

However, once you apply our Design and Gaming profile, the color accuracy improves to a DeltaE of 1.0! Values below 1.0 are imperceptible to the human eye.

Moreover, the GA402’s display (TL140ADXP02-0 / TMX1401) does not use PWM, making it gentle on your eyes even during extended work sessions (yes, including the obligatory gaming break). Just remember to activate the Health-Guard profile when working after sunset.

Office Work

Office Work should be used mostly by users who spend most of the time looking at pieces of text, tables or just surfing. This profile aims to deliver better distinctness and clarity by keeping a flat gamma curve (2.20), native color temperature and perceptually accurate colors.

Design and Gaming

This profile is aimed at designers who work with colors professionally, and for games and movies as well. Design and Gaming takes display panels to their limits, making them as accurate as possible in the sRGB IEC61966-2-1 standard for Web and HDTV, at white point D65.

Health-Guard

Health-Guard eliminates the harmful Pulse-Width Modulation (PWM) and reduces the negative Blue Light which affects our eyes and body. Since it’s custom tailored for every panel, it manages to keep the colors perceptually accurate. Health-Guard simulates paper so the pressure on the eyes is greatly reduced.
