Lenovo IdeaPad 1 (15″, 2023) review – affordable and pretty efficient
If you have clicked on this review, you are most probably in the market for a very affordable notebook. Well, the Lenovo IdeaPad 1 (15″, 2023) is designed to fulfill your specific needs without breaking your budget.
As expected, it is not a stellar piece of machinery, nor it is something that will make Apple’s Macbooks hide in the closet. However, due to its price appeal, it might just be one of the best sellers for 2023.
So what characterizes this notebook? Well, on paper, it is its portability, and efficiency, which comes with decent speed thanks to the SSD inside and AMD’s Ryzen 7000U CPUs. Before your mouth starts watering, we have to tell you to manage your expectations.
These are the so-called pseudo-Ryzen 7000s because they consist of Zen 2 cores but improved integrated graphics. In addition to them, you can pick from a couple of Athlons. To be frank, their 2005-esque core count is a bit offputting, but if you are in dire need of a laptop, feel free to go for one of the Athlons (preferably the Gold).
In terms of displays, you have two TN panels – one with 768p and one with 1080p resolution, which seem to be the bare minimum for 2023 too. In addition, there are two IPS options with 1080p resolution, but differing in their maximum brightness.

What’s in the box?
Inside the packaging, there are a couple of paper manuals. In addition, we were pleasantly surprised to find a 65W charger.
This is a solid review of the Lenovo IdeaPad 1 (2023)—a great option for budget-conscious buyers who need a no-frills laptop for basic tasks. The AMD Ryzen 7000U (even if it’s Zen 2-based) and SSD storage make it a decent performer for everyday use, though the TN panel options and limited RAM configurations show where corners were cut to hit that ultra-low price point. For users who need extra storage without breaking the bank, pairing this laptop with a 1TB SATA II HDD (7.2K RPM, 2.5-inch) could be a smart move. While SSDs offer speed, a spinning HDD like this provides affordable bulk storage for documents,… Read more »
