In this comparison, we have two chips by AMD – Ryzen 5 4600H and Ryzen 5 3550H. Both of these CPUs are made for mobile devices and both are middle-class processors. The Ryzen 5 4600H is based on the Zen 2 microarchitecture while the 3550H is based on the Zen+ microarchitecture. For this comparison, we are going to see which is the better chip for your system and which CPU performs better.

Specifications

As you can see, there are quite a few differences between the Ryzen 5 4600H and the 3550H. Firstly, the 4600H has 6 cores and 12 threads which should make it the superior CPU for multi-core tasks. Secondly, the 4600H has a higher base and max frequency at 3.00 and 4.00GHz which is better for the performance. Last but not least, the 4600H has 8MBs of cache versus 4MBs for the 3550H.

In our first benchmark, the 4600H beats the 3550H with a significant difference. In our second Photoshop benchmark, the 4600H is 35% faster than the older AMD. All in all, on average the 4600H is 79% faster.

Conclusion

Overall, the new addition to the AMD family – Ryzen 5 4600H is performing better than the Ryzen 5 3550H. In terms of CPU power, the 4600H is doing undoubtedly better than the 3550H. In terms of graphics efficacy, there are not many huge differences, with the 4600H being 15% faster on average. All in all, both CPUs are performing very well, but if you have to choose between the two, go with the Ryzen 5 4600H.
