MSI GE75 Raider 10Sx vs MSI GE75 Raider – riding the new hardware wave
In our review regarding the MSI GE75 Raider, we conclude that it’s a great piece of hardware because it has decent cooling, great display, powerful hardware, and a good keyboard for gaming. The Raider devices aren’t that premium as their Stealth siblings but thanks to the thicker profile, there is a more capable cooling solution hiding underneath its shell.
The MSI GE75 Raider 10Sx is no different than its predecessor – yes, it’s a thick machine but it has a better cooling solution than some more expensive laptops. The exterior look has been kept the same but inside of the laptop, we can find high-end gaming hardware that can transform this device into a desktop alternative.

Design: no design changes in 2020
Yep, as we mentioned, no design changes regarding the 2020 MSI GE75 Raider 10Sx. This is the same gaming device with a not-so-aggressive design and its backside and lid have a shape, which is most likely inspired by sports cars. In addition, the bezels around the display are thin and the laptop has an up to date look.

Display: a new 300Hz display option for smoother gameplay
This year, we have three high refresh rate display options and it seems like the 60Hz panels are already part of the history, at least for the MSI GE75 Raider 10Sx. The basic display is a 144Hz panel, followed by a 240Hz unit, and for the wealthy gamers, MSI offers a 300Hz display option. Keep in mind that you’re going to need a very powerful GPU for squeezing more FPS, should you choose the latter.

Hardware: high-end hardware for the Raider
Although the machine doesn’t look particularly premium, the hardware inside of it truly is. You can have the most powerful overclockable Comet Lake-H processor (Intel Core i9-10980HK) and the Max-Q version of the top NVIDIA mobile GPU – the RTX 2080 Super at the same time. For the ones who don’t need such powerful and expensive components, there are more “modest” CPU and GPU options like the 6-core i7-10750H and the full-blown variants of the RTX 2070 and RTX 2060.
The cooling solution boasts up to 8 heat pipes for the model with RTX 2080 Super Max-Q. Ultimately, it looks almost the same as the one that we found in the 2019 machine and it’s able to keep both the CPU and the GPU temperatures under control when a heavy load is applied.
Connectivity and ports: almost identical amount of ports than the last year’s I/O
You get pretty much everything you need when it comes to the I/O – a USB 3.1 Gen 2 (Type-C) port, two USB 3.1 Gen 1 (Type-A) ports, a USB 3.1 Gen 2 (Type-A) port, an HDMI connector, a mini Displayport, an SD card reader, an Ethernet port, an audio jack, and a mic-in jack.
Storage and other specs: optional Steelseries RGB keyboard, two NVMe ports, and 65Wh battery option
There is a per-key RGB backlight from Steelseries as an optional feature. If you are a fan of customization – you would love it. For storage, two NVMe ports are available for blazing-fast M.2 drives that will ensure fast system boot time and short level loading when you’re playing games. The 2020 notebook has a 65Wh battery unit but if you choose a less powerful CPU/GPU combo you can probably end up with a 51Wh package.
