Because they purchased Radeon 10 years ago, AMD manages to stay in fierce competition with NVIDIA in terms of the GPU market. However, this is not at all the case when it comes to processors, be them desktop or laptop CPUs. Intel has a big market share in this sphere and some of the reasons for this are the now past temperature problems AMD chips used to have, as well as the performance inferiority of the latter.

On the other hand, AMD manages to offer very good prices for its products, which makes them very competitive in the budget market segment but it also seems that they will attack Intel with some higher-end devices. AMD demonstrated this using a benchmark comparing the power of a Zen-based processor to a competitive relevant 8-core Intel chip, and the result shows that they are equal or that the former is better than the latter.

Of course, we can jump to any conclusions from a single presentation or benchmark with somewhat unclear conditions, but if the AMD models manage to compete with Intel’s in terms of performance (if not in the upper-range, at least in the mid-range segment) and keep their strategy of releasing good bargains, then the game will surely be intriguing. According to our friends at WCCFtech, we can expect Zen architecture chips in the second half of next year. And so we shall patiently wait for the development of the new concept.
