NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti Max-Q (4GB GDDR5) vs NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 Max-Q (3GB GDDR5) – the GTX 1060 Max-Q takes the upper hand
Last time we made a quick comparison of the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti Max-Q (4GB GDDR5) vs NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti (4GB GDDR5) and today we shall juxtapose the new GTX 1050 Ti Max-Q (4GB GDDR5) to the GTX 1060 Max-Q (3GB GDDR5).

Specs overview
Starting with the similarities between the two products – they are both part of the same Pascal architecture and employ the same Max-Q design which allows for their implementation in more compact machines. This, however, seems to be the end of the aspects they share.
And now, let us quickly consider the most notable differences. Firstly, the manufacturing process the 1050 Ti Max-Q uses is 14nm whereas the one of its opponent – 16nm. Additionally, there is a difference in terms of speed – the GTX 1050 Ti Max-Q boasts 1290 MHz base frequency vs 1063 – 1265 MHz for the 1060 version, and 1417 MHz max speed vs 1341 – 1480 MHz, respectively. Moving on, there are differences in the memory department – the GTX 1050 Ti Max-Q has 4GB GDDR5 while the GTX 1060 Max-Q comes with 3GB GDDR5, 128-bit memory bus vs a 192-bit one. The GTX 1060 Max-Q’s memory frequency is a tad faster, too (2002 MHz vs 1752 MHz) plus its memory bandwidth is almost twice the one of the GTX 1050 Ti Max-Q – 192.2 GB/sec vs 112.1 GB/sec.
Benchmarks
And now, the time has come for us to have a look at some raw benchmarks which are not always the most indicative of true to life performance but again, they help to establish a general idea. There is no doubt that the obvious winner in this section is the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 Max-Q (3GB GDDR5) as it surpasses its opponent in every test but the last one in which they have a very small difference.
Conclusion
And so, it is obvious that the GTX 1060 Max-Q (3GB GDDR5) is the definite winner in this battle despite it having a slightly smaller amount of memory.
