Samsung Galaxy J5 (2016) preview – 5.2″ Super AMOLED display, Snapdragon 410 and 3100 mAh battery

5.2-inch Super AMOLED display and Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow

This smartphone comes with a 5.2″ display which should allow for a comfortable grip. Its resolution is HD (1280 x 720 p) and this translates into a decently detailed picture. The pixel density is 282 ppi. Similarly to other models from this lineup, Galaxy J5 features a Super AMOLED panel that ensures bright and contrasty colors along with wide viewing angles.

Galaxy J5 (2016) offers an up to date Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow and the TouchWiz Samsung UI (bringing additional functions and specific style.

13MP camera and 3100mAh battery

The smartphone features a 13MP rear camera with an LED flash, autofocus and an aperture value of f/1.9 which means better lowlight shots. Furthermore, it has Full HD video recording capability. On the front there is a 5MP camera that is also accompanied by an LED flash and an aperture value of f/1.9.

Galaxy J5 (2016) comes with a 3100 mAh removable battery and according to Samsung a single charge should provide up to 14 hours of Wi-Fi Web browsing, up to 17 hours of video playback and up to 21 hours of call time. If this is really so, then we can conclude that Galaxy J5 has a very durable battery. Also included here is the Ultra power saving mode of Samsung.

Snapdragon 410 and thin profile

The popular Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 ensures good performance with its four Cortex-A53 cores ticking at 1.2 GHz. Apart from providing decent performance, the mobile chip keeps temperatures low.

J5 also offers Adreno 306 GPU and 2GB of RAM so that smooth operation with the phone will not be an issue. The internal storage is 16 GB which is expandable with up to 128 GB via the microSD card slot.

Last but not least, we are impressed by the pleasant design characterized by a thin profile (only 8.1 mm) and weight of 159 grams.
