[Specs and Info] Lenovo strives to make their Legion Slim 7 become the best thin gaming laptop on the market
While we all love the big and bulky gaming laptops that both look like something from our dreams and boast great performance that can rival desktop systems, these devices are not for everyone. We have to agree that most consumers don’t need a device that can crush triple-A games at the max setting with great framerates and high resolutions while being hard to carry around.
Well, it’s great to know that Lenovo has thought of these consumers as well, by offering a cut-down version of the big Legion 7, that weighs less but still has enough performance to give you a great gaming experience.
For today we will give you a quick look at the new Lenovo Legion Slim 7, which boasts the new Ryzen 5000-series processors by AMD, the mobile RTX 3000-series GPUs, and has some aces up its sleeve that even its bigger brother Legion 7 doesn’t.

Design
The machine looks like is built from a combination of plastic and metal, which both make for a lighter device, that weighs only 1.9 kg, which is good, considering the dimensions and internals. The laptop is thinner than the regular Legion 7 with a profile of 18.9mm at the thickest point, which is a 4mm difference. For the design itself, it will appeal to most consumers as it doesn’t sport RGB all over the place and is overall very sleek and stylish, with minimal Lenovo and Legion branding.
Display
Lenovo has hidden some aces up the Legion Slim 7’s sleeve, with one appearing in the display choices. The regular model comes with a 15.6-inch Full HD IPS panel with a refresh rate of 165Hz, 100% coverage of the sRGB color gamut, a max brightness of 300 nits, and a 3 ms response time, which should be enough for most consumers.
The interesting part comes with the second screen option, which is a 4K panel, that only has a 60Hz refresh rate, but is VESA DisplayHDR 400 certified, reaches a peak brightness of 500 nits, and covers 100% of the AdobeRGB color gamut. Both panels are IPS and support Dolby Vision.
Specifications
The choices for internal components are quite interesting, as Lenovo has chosen the Ryzen 5000-series APUs for the brain of the laptop. The top choice is the Ryzen 7 5800H, with the Ryzen 5 5600H also being available. More and more manufacturers are starting to tip their toes in AMD’s waters and this is great to see since Team Red has been dominating the desktop market and it was only a matter of time before they started their expansion to the mobile market.
For GPU choices, the only one that we know so far is the RTX 3060 Max-Q, which is a great GPU for 1080p gaming and even some 1440p gaming with lowered settings. The RAM and storage options are the same as the regular Legion 7, with up to 32GB of DDR4-3200MHz RAM and 2TB of NVMe SSD storage.
Other features include Wi-Fi 6 support, a backlight keyboard with a fingerprint reader, meaning security is up there with the best business laptops.
