This is the ASUS G501 configuration with 96Wh battery (specs, price and 60Wh model comparison)

asus-rog-g501-batteryAs you may know, we had the opportunity to be the first to make you aware of ASUS G501’s specs before the official release of the model, and also, to write a detailed review for you. Our unit features a 60Wh battery, and this is the most popular configuration. Since one of our users made a specific request (thanks, Regurus), we dug a little deeper and found what ASUS offers in case you’d like a bigger battery.

It turns out that the 90Wh model is currently offered only with a 4K display, while the 60Wh is reserved for the Full HD configurations. This sounds reasonable because of the higher energy consumption of the Ultra HD panel (rest assured that once the model comes to our hands, we’re going to measure that!).

    We found the 90Wh G501 in a Slovenian online store priced at 1779 EUR (4K screen, i7-4720HQ, GTX 960M, 16GB RAM and 512GB M.2).

Take a look at the comparison table below.

Only the 4k version seems to be available in the US for anyone wondering.

Found this model for 1438 euro: G501JW-FI267H (google it).

    It’s 4K/ 16GB/ 1TB HDD + 128GB m.2 SSD. Sounds like the best price/performance mix so far.

US amazon sells the DS71 configuration (4K/16GB/512GB SSD) for $1999 while the german Amazon has two options –
CN168H and CN030H (Full HD /8 or 16 GB/1TB HDD + 128 GB SSD) for EUR 1399 and EUR 1499 respectively. The difference between the two is just RAM size.

I can’t find either of them on Amazon.com, perhaps you’ve confused them with the GL551 version?

you should consider that the DS71 config. has thunderbolt, and the otherones have not thunderbolt. So it seems.

Wait… Does the 60Wh model have Thunderbolt? I thought it only had a Mini Display Port! In that case, I would definitely consider buying it 😀

Do you have any more detailed info on actual battery life (idle, WiFi on & surfing, h264 video playback, gaming)?

My ideal spec is US DS71 but with a FHD display instead of the UHD, even better battery life while still having 16GB of RAM and the super fast 512GB SSD.
