Acer Predator 15 doesn’t go too far from its 17-inch brother in terms of cooling capabilities

It’s a well-known fact that the 17-inch gaming notebooks are a lot better when it comes to cooling due to the extra space and airflow. This was further proved by our temperature tests on the Acer Aspire V15 Nitro Black Edition and the V17 Nitro Black Edition.

You can check the pricing and availability of the Acer Predator 15 at Amazon.com.

However, the difference between the cooling capabilities of the Predator 17 and Predator 15 are virtually none. The 15-inch notebook did just as well as the 17-incher without any signs of throttling, overheating etc. Moreover, the silicon’s temperatures were nowhere near the maximum operating temperatures – around 70-74 °C when only the CPU ticks at 100% and around 80-84 °C when we turned on the GPU stress test along with the CPU torture test.

So even after two long hours of 100% CPU and 100% GPU stress test, the notebook maintained the maximum operating frequency of the CPU and the GPU while keeping things cool on the surface as well. Take a look at the temperature map below to see how hot it gets under extreme conditions.
