ASUS ROG Strix G531 SCAR III and Hero III are the successors of the mighty GL504

ASUS announced the direct successor of ROG Strix GL504. Surprisingly, the name isn’t GL505 but G531 instead. Anyway, let’s see what we have here.

Zephyrus is the ultra-premium and ultra-thin line, G703 and the Mothership are the biggest beasts, and G531 has a mission to become the best mid-range laptop on the market. Despite that, it has some premium surprises under the hood. For example, we can’t miss giving the deserved attention to the 240 Hz Full HD IPS screen. Definitely overkill but still…Wow. The notebook can be bought with 60 Hz, 120 Hz, and 144 Hz panel as well.

Except for the new screen, ROG Strix G531 is pretty similar to GL504; The weight is the same – 2.40 kg (5.3 lbs), while the G531’s dimensions are 361 x 274 x 25.9 mm (14.21″ x 10.79″ x 1.02″) – just a hair thinner than the GL504 (26.1 mm).

In terms of performance, ASUS ROG Strix G531 has configurations with Intel Core i9-9880H, Intel Core i7-9750H, and Intel Core i5-9300H CPUs. In the GPU department, you’ll be able to choose between NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650, and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050.

ASUS got rid of the Type-C port which is a bit weird but well, making a laptop affordable comes with some sacrifices. Stay tuned for a more detailed comparison.
