HP 17 (17-cp2000): Full Specs

Design

The laptop comes with a plastic chassis that resembles carbon fiber, having a weaved finish, at least on the lid. The base goes further, having white speckles all around, except for the keycaps and the touchpad. If you want a more traditional look, there is a silver option as well, which has a brushed finish that tries to mimic aluminum. For the most luxurious look, you can get a golden laptop, with the same brushed finish as the silver device. In terms of weight and thickness, the laptop stops the scales at 2.07 kg and measures at 19.81 mm, which is portable enough for a 17-inch machine.

On the sides, the port selection consists of two USB Type-A 3.2 (Gen. 1) ports, one USB Type-C 3.2 (Gen. 1) port, an HDMI 1.4b port, and a 3.5 mm audio jack.

Display

The display selection includes a 1600 x 900 TN display with 250 nits of brightness. There’s also a Full HD IPS panel with the same brightness. Generally, we would recommend the IPS panel over the TN one, as the former has better viewing angles and better contrast, so watching at night is a better experience.

Specifications and features

In terms of processors, there are three AMD options. The base configuration has the AMD Athlon 7220U with two cores and four threads. From there, you can jump to the Ryzen 3 7320U and the Ryzen 5 7520U. All three CPUs use the Zen 2 architecture, with the Ryzen 3 and Ryzen 5 having 4 cores and 8 threads. For graphics, there’s the integrated Radeon 610M, which uses the RDNA 2 architecture and should provide better performance than the previous Vega generation of iGPUs.
