First benchmark scores of the new Mac Mini with M2 Pro are here
When a new CPU is announced, the first peek of its performance is most likely to be Geekbench. The Mac Mini seems to be the first of the three newly revealed Apple devices, as we now have Geekbench 5 scores of its performance. It turns out, the new chip is faster than last year’s M1 Pro (duh), but also manages to be faster than the M1 Max.
While these results are for the Mac Mini, we’re confident that the MacBook Pro laptops equipped with it will perform similarly, if not better.

While the M2 Pro does have two extra cores when compared to the M1 Pro, the M1 Max still has the upper hand, with four more cores than the M2 Pro. On the other hand, the M2 Pro has a higher clock speed, with an extra 300 MHz boost. The M1 Pro does have an 8-core variant as well, but we’ve decided to include the scores of the 10-core chip.
Benchmarks
Compared to last year’s Mac Mini with the M1 SoC, the M2 Pro offers 14% more Single-core performance. In the Multi-core benchmark, the increase is more than double, with 102%.

Moving over to the M1 Pro and M1 Max, the M2 Pro is faster than both of them, showcasing similar results. The new SoC delivers is around 12% to 13% quicker in Single-core than both M1-based SoCs. It does show a larger lead of around 23% to 25% in multi-core, which is also great to see.

The new Mac Mini with M2 Pro chip delivers great performance that makes us wonder if Apple might continue with Mac Studio and instead only offer at the higher end the Mac Pro with M2 Ultra chip. Mac Mini with M2 Pro chip delivers awesome speeds and power according to the available Geekbench results and other benchmarks. If you need a tough computer that has powerful performance and speed within reasonable budget this might be the one.
