ASUS ROG Strix G18 (G814, 2023) review – as good as portable gaming gets
Since we recently reviewed the 16-inch version of this laptop, we kind of know what to expect from this one. However, there is always room for surprises, and let’s hope that the ASUS ROG Strix G18 (G814, 2023) can give us some of the good ones.
For starters, let’s talk about this notebook’s appeal to gamers. The Strix series has always been one of the top choices when it comes to this segment of the market. Considering the fact that the brand also has the SCAR version to think about, it comes naturally to make the Strix G-series a bit more lackluster. However, we definitely don’t observe this either with the 16-inch nor with the 18-inch model.
It now features Intel’s HX series of CPUs. They work at 55W base TDP, but we often see them boost well over the 100W mark. This puts a lot of pressure on the cooling solution. We are going to test that in this review, so you’ll have some knowledge on the matter later on.
As you can tell, the ASUS ROG Strix G18 (G814, 2023) uses a screen that is quite bigger than what we were used to seeing. You can find it with a 240Hz 1600p IPS panel, or a 1200p 165Hz one of the same type.
