HP ZBook Firefly 16 G9 review – great build quality but disappointing performance

Today, we are going to show you the HP ZBook Firefly 16 G9 and we’re going to put it through its paces. Essentially, it is part of the ZBook lineup of devices, which consists of pretty much the entire workstation range.

In the past, when one was looking for a workstation, he (or she) would have had to settle for a bulky, often times ugly-looking notebook. However, as you know, the hardware had come a long way, and now you can get a very capable machine with a slim form factor.

This is exactly what the ZBook Firefly 16 G9 stands for – pro-level performance in a very portable chassis. One of its competitors is the Lenovo ThinkPad P16s Gen 1 – a laptop that crumbled beneath the high expectations and its (wait for it…) slim chassis.

However, the good thing about the ZBook Firefly 16 G9 is that it features a very large roster of CPU options. It includes both 15W and 28W chips from Intel, while the optional dedicated GPU is the NVIDIA T550 – a pro-grade graphics card, that is meant to work with the appropriate software.

Thankfully, the display options all consist of 1920 by 1200 IPS panels. No TN displays equals to a happy user. However, you should keep in mind that there are some units with low sRGB coverage and others that boast the full sRGB color spectrum.

What’s in the box?

Inside the package, we only found some paperwork and a 65W USB Type-C charger. Models that feature the P-series Intel CPUs will come with a 100W power adapter instead.
