Max CPU load
In this test we use 100% on the CPU cores, monitoring their frequencies and chip temperature. The first column shows a computer’s reaction to a short load (2-10 seconds), the second column simulates a serious task (between 15 and 30 seconds), and the third column is a good indicator of how good the laptop is for long loads such as video rendering.

The Core i5-1340P inside of the Lenovo ThinkPad P14s Gen 4 can maintain much higher CPU clocks and power limits compared to the Dell Vostro 16 5630 which is good.

The mobile NVIDIA RTX A500 can sustain a stable 30W TGP and ~1043MHz core frequency after 30 minutes of gaming. All looks normal for such a GPU.
Comfort during full load
The manufacturer has made a really smart decision to implement their power presets into the Windows Power mode. So, you don’t have to use Lenovo Vantage to control the performance of your laptop. The three Windows presets are called “Best power efficiency”, “Balanced”, and “Best Performance”. They stand for “Eco mode”, “Auto performance mode”, and “Ultra performance mode”. To check if the Auto preset is turned on or off, you have to press Fn+T and see the on-screen info.
The laptop is almost quiet while Web browsing or watching videos. During 100% CPU stress in “Ultra performance mode”, the single fan is spinning at around ~ 4000 RPM and the noise isn’t too loud.
When the GPU has to do the heavy lifting, the fan’s RPM is ~ 4600 RPM. In heavy stress, the whole keyboard feels warm, but not hot, and the hotspot is right in the center of the board. The two palm rest areas are cool enough for normal work too.

Now, we conduct the battery tests with Windows Better performance setting turned on, screen brightness adjusted to 120 nits and all other programs turned off except for the one we are testing the notebook with. There is a 52.5Wh battery inside and it lasts for 9 hours and 5 minutes of Web browsing, or 6 hours and 40 minutes of video playback.
